  • Potential

    Untested ability that may be developed through training, practice, or other activity. The innate capacity for accomplishment. In the realm of electricity, when objects with differing electrical potentials are connected, a flow of current occurs between them. If they possess identical electrical potentials, no current flows.  

  • Potent

    Having the male capability to perform sexual intercourse.  

  • Potable water

    Water that is fit to drink. Water suitable for drinking. Drinking water should be free of disease-causing organisms and should contain only trace amounts of organic and/or inorganic chemicals.  

  • Post vaccinal

    Following a vaccination, usually referring to some type of reaction.  

  • Postural muscles

    The muscles that help to maintain posture.  

  • Postulate

    A general term describing a statement that is a premise for a line of reasoning. From that statement, one can deduce more specific propositions. A supposition or view, usually self-evident, that is assumed without proof. A statement that is accepted or presumed without concrete evidence.  

  • Posttest

    An evaluation instrument that provides the educator with data that are interpreted in terms of the learning that has taken place over a given period of time. A measures learning progress over a given period of time.  

  • Postsynaptic neuron

    The neuron on the receiving end of an impulse that responds to the release of a neurotransmitter from the presynaptic neuron that is necessary for the continuance of the impulse through the nerve.

    A planned set of health education policies, procedures, activities, and services that are directed toward learners and faculty of colleges and universities.  

  • Postpartum illness

    A mental or emotional state of some women who have recently given birth that is characterized by a hormonal upheaval that results in postpartum depression that may cause bizarre behavior.
