A genetic disorder that causes the teeth to have thin enamel, deficient in calcium. A child with this disorder will have teeth that are mottled and susceptible to tooth decay and will require careful dental care.
An inherited condition that affects the enamel of the teeth. Amelogenesis imperfecta may cause the teeth to be varied in color, ranging from white to yellow or brow. The condition causes the tooth enamel surface to be abnormally thin and chalky, making the tooth more prone to decay. The condition can also cause the teeth to be sensitive to sweets and to heat. When parts of the teeth are missing or when there are aesthetic problems, the placement of dental crowns is often recommended.
