Vastus lateralis muscle

Largest muscle of the anterior lateral aspect of the femoral shaft that extends the lower leg; often used for injection site.


A muscle of the anterior thigh (the lateral component of the quadriceps femoris) originating on the linea aspera and the greater trochanter of the femur and inserted in the tibial tuberosity via the patellar ligament. It extends the leg and is controlled by the femoral nerve.
