The true bugs; an order of insects characterized by piercing and sucking mouth parts. The first pair of wings is leathery at the base and membranous at the tip; the second pair is membranous. Metamorphosis is incomplete. The order includes bedbugs, kissing bugs, and several other species that are pests or vectors of pathogenic organisms.
