Cardiovascular system

Comprised of the heart, blood vessels, and blood. It distributes oxygen and nutrients to the cells, removes carbon dioxide and wastes from the cells, and maintains the acid-base balance of the body.

The circulatory system; the heart, blood, and arteries and veins.

The system of organs and blood vessels by means of which the blood circulates round the body and which includes the heart, arteries and veins.

Body parts, including the heart and blood vessels, involved in the pumping of blood and transport of nutrients, oxygen, and waste products throughout the body.

The heart and the blood vessels, also called the circulatory system, which transports the blood that carries oxygen, carbon dioxide, nutrients, antibodies, enzymes, and waste materials throughout the body. This vast system is vital to maintaining life.

The heart together with two networks of blood vessels: the systemic circulation and the ‘pulmonary circulation. The cardiovascular system effects the circulation of blood around the body, which brings about transport of nutrients and oxygen to the tissues and the removal of waste products.

This refers to the whole circulatory system: the heart, the systemic circulation (the arteries and veins of the body) and the pulmonary circulation (the arteries and veins of the lungs). Blood circulates throughout the cardiovascular system, bringing oxygen and nutrients to the tissues and removing carbon dioxide and other waste products.

The heart and blood vessels (aorta, arteries, arterioles, capillaries, venules, veins, venae cavae).

Also known as the circulatory system; includes the heart and blood vessels of the body.
