Diagnostic imaging

Visual representation of a body part made for diagnostic and/or treatment planning purposes. Such procedures include radiography, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, and digital volume tomography.

Scanning for the purpose of diagnosis, e.g. of a pregnant woman to see if the fetus is healthy.

Techniques that allow internal areas of the body to be visualized through X rays, magnetic fields (MRI scanning), and radio-frequency waves and sound waves (ultrasound) to produce pictures of the structures and tissues of the body. Computer enhanced images are often used to improve imaging techniques and aid in diagnosis.
