One of the thin layers or flat plates of a larger composite structure, such as bone or tissue.

Laminae, thin membrane or plate-like structure, as the two parts of a vertebra that join to hold the spinous process of the vertebra over the spinal cord.


The dorsal vertebral ossifications, commonly referred to as the vertebral plates, are large bony structures located on the upper aspect of the vertebrae. These plates unite in the centerline, amalgamating to create a sturdy osseous enclosure that envelops and safeguards the spinal canal.


A slender layer or sheet, like that of bone or a thin membrane.
