Cyanophilous

(Of granules in basidia of Lyophyllaceae) Staining deep blue when pieces of air-dried lamellae are soaked in a drop of cotton blue dye in lactic acid on a glass slide, then gently heated over an alcohol lamp before removing the stained tissues and placing them in a fresh drop of clear lactic acid, squashing the mount after the cover glass is placed on to separate out individual basidia for observations; same as siderophilous reaction.


Having an affinity for a blue dye or stain.
