Arrest

In cardiology, a stoppage of the heart or of respiration, due to the interruption of the nervous impulses controlling these functions, cardiac arrest.


The stopping of a bodily function.


Stopping, as of a rhythm or muscle function (e.g., cardiac arrest, sudden stopping of the heart).


The condition of being stopped.


An abrupt cessation of the functioning of a bodily organ, characterized by the absence of respiration (respiratory arrest) or the absence of cardiac contractions (cardiac arrest).
