A level of school organizational structure that generally includes grades 9-12. When grade 9 is organized as a part of a junior high school is grades 10-12.
An institution providing education to students after middle school or directly after elementary school; sometimes used to refer only to grades 9 to 12, with grades 7 and 8 considered junior high school or early secondary school. In high school, students generally have a homeroom to which they report at the beginning and ending of each day for attendance checking and school announcements. But, unlike elementary school, they then generally change class¬ rooms and teachers with every subject. During the high school years, most students pass the age of compulsory attendance, so the schools have a major challenge in preventing student dropouts.
