Abortus

A fetus which is expelled during an abortion or miscarriage.


Fetus whose weight is below ½ kilogram (a little more than 1 pound) at the time it is removed or expelled from the mother’s body.


A fetus, weighing less than 400 g, that is expelled from the mother’s body either dead or incapable of surviving.


The fetus out of the uterus (ex utero), whether alive or dead, viable or nonviable, after an abortion.


A fetus born before 20 weeks gestation or weighing less than 500 g.
