Hypohidrosis

A condition in which someone produces too little sweat.

An abnormal condition characterized by inadequate perspiration. Hypohidrosis leads to heat intolerance and extreme discomfort after physical exertion or after eating hot or spicy foods. It is often accompanied by other abnormalities in the growth of body structures or cells.

Hypohidrosis refers to decreased activity of the sweat glands. It is a prominent feature of hypohidrotic ectodermal dysplasia, a rare inherited condition that cannot be cured. This disorder is characterized by reduced sweating and is accompanied by dry, wrinkled skin, sparse hair, small and brittle nails, as well as conical teeth. Other causes of hypohidrosis may include exfoliative dermatitis and certain anticholinergic drugs.
