An iridectomy is a surgical procedure done on the eye to remove a section of the iris. The most prevalent form, called a “peripheral iridectomy”, is typically conducted to address acute glaucoma. This involves creating a small opening, either surgically or with a laser, near the iris’s outer edge to allow for the drainage of the aqueous humor.
