Lymph gland

A mass of lymphoid tissue situated in various points of the lymphatic system, especially under the armpits and in the groin, through which lymph passes and in which lymphocytes are produced.

A rounded mass of lymphatic tissue that is surrounded by a capsule of connective tissue. Lymph glands filter lymphatic fluid, and they store lymphocytes (white blood cells). They are located along lymphatic vessels. Also called a lymph node.
