Pneumonic plague

A form of bubonic plague which mainly affects the lungs.


A fast-moving, often fatal infection characterized by areas of pulmonary consolidation, fevers, pain, and bloody sputum.


A highly virulent form of plague spread from person to person by respiratory secretions. It occurs as a sequela of bubonic plague or as a primary infection.


An exceptionally potent strain of the plague distinguished by severe pneumonia and a notably high mortality rate.
