Poikilocyte

An unusually large red blood cell with an irregular shape.


An abnormally shaped red blood cell (erythrocyte). Poikilocytes may be classified into a variety of types on the basis of their shape: for example elliptocytes (ellipsoid) and schistocytes (semilunar).


A teardrop or pear-shaped red blood cell, seen in myelofibrosis and certain anemias.
