Promethazine

An antihistamine drug used in the treatment of allergies and motion sickness.


Antihistamine used to treat allergies and to induce sedation; it is also an antiemetic, effective in treating nausea, especially that of motion sickness. Adverse effects include drowsiness and dry mouth.


A drug used to treat motion sickness, nausea, and allergies. Promethazine (Mepergan, Phenergan) is a drug that has antiemetic (antinausea), antivertigo, and antihistamine properties. In addition to being used to treat motion sickness, nausea, and allergies, promethazine is used to sedate a person before surgery or during labor and delivery.


A powerful antihistamine drug used to treat allergic conditions and (because of its sedative action) insomnia. It is also used as an antitussive in cough mixtures. Promethazine is administered by mouth or injection; side-effects include drowsiness, dizziness, and confusion.
