Referring to nerves which are able to sense only strong sensations.


Referring to a first symptom or lesion.


Referring to the first sign of partially restored function in an injured nerve.


Describing the ability to perceive only strong stimuli of pain, heat, etc.


Primitive, undiscriminating, especially with respect to sensing and localizing pain stimuli.


Referring to the more basic and less refined sensory experiences, like intense pressure on the skin and pain. The more delicate sensations, such as light touch, are termed “epicritic.”
