Actinomycin

An antibiotic used in the treatment of children with cancer.


A cytotoxic drug, produced by Streptomyces bacteria, that inhibits growth of cancer cells. There are several forms, which are administered by injection. Actinomycin C may damage bone marrow. Actinomycin D may cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, blood disorders, and bone-marrow damage.
