Arteriography

The work of taking X-ray photographs of arteries after injection with an opaque dye.

A method of examining the arteries using X-rays and an infusion of a radio-opaque dye solution.

An X-ray study of the structure of one or more arteries and other nearby blood vessels after injection of contrast medium.

Visualization of blood vessels by radiographic means. Usually a radio-opaque dye is injected into the vessels just prior to imaging. The vessels then stand out as white branches against the darker background.

X-ray examination of an artery that has been outlined by the injection of a radio-opaque contrast medium. The major uses of arteriography are to demonstrate the site and extent of atheroma, especially in the coronary arteries {coronary angiography) and leg arteries (femoral angiography), and to reveal the site of aneurysms within the skull or cerebral tumors (carotid and vertebral artery angiography).

A medical examination involving the injection of an X-ray-visible dye into the bloodstream, enabling the visualization of blood vessels through X-ray imaging.
