Arthralgia

Is pain in the joints from many possible causes.


Pain in one or more of the joints.


Pain experienced in a joint as a symptom of a disease or condition. Arthralgia is the medical term used when there is pain in a joint with no signs of localized inflammation or arthritis. Arthritis refers to a condition that involves inflammation and swelling in the joint in addition to pain; arthralgia refers to the isolated symptom of joint pain. This symptom may be present for several years before there are signs of arthritis. Or, arthritis may never develop. The pain is most commonly treated with acetaminophen or with anti-inflammatory drugs, such as aspirin or ibuprofen.


Excruciating and intense agony, coursing through a neural pathway or cluster of neural pathways, encountered within a specific joint or multiple joints.
