Articular cartilage

A thin layer of hyaline cartilage located on the joint surfaces of some bones, not found on the articular surfaces of the temporomandibular joints which is covered with an avascular fibrous tissue.


A layer of cartilage at the end of a bone where it forms a joint with another bone.


The smooth, nonvascular, dense connective tissue that covers the end surfaces of bones forming synovial joints.
