Bioabsorbable (syn)

Absorbable. Property of a material to degrade or dissolve in vivo. Breakdown products are incorporated into normal physiologic and biochemical processes (e.g., bioabsorbable membranes or sutures).

Capable of being assimilated by the body, first, because it is relatively easy to implant and second, because it degrades within the body and gradually transfers physical loads to living tissue.
