Biteplane (biteplate)

A tooth‐and‐tissueborne appliance usually constructed of plastic and wire and worn in the palate; used as a diagnostic or therapeutic adjunct.


A dental device used to correct or diagnose malocclusion. It is worn in the palate, usually on a temporary basis.


A plane formed by the biting surfaces of the teeth.


In dentistry, a plate made of some suitable plastic material into which the patient bites in order to have a record of the relationship between the upper and lower jaws. The device may be reinforced with wire and used as a splint in the mouth or to treat temporomandibular joint difficulties.
