Bone morphogenetic protein 5 (BMP‐5)

Polypeptide member of the transforming growth factor beta (TGF‐β) superfamily of proteins. BMP‐5 may play a role in certain cancers. Like other BMPs, BMP‐5 is inhibited by molecules chordin and noggin. It is expressed in the trabecular meshwork, lung, liver, and optic nerve, and may be involved in the development and normal function of these organs.
