Nonviable biomaterial for reconstruction of bone, producing only a scaffold for formation of new bone. Supports the inherent potential for bone regeneration. It may be resorbable or remain in an unchanged version at the site of implantation. It also may assist in preservation of contour of an osseous reconstruction.
