Brain stem

This part of the brain includes the pons and the medulla oblongata. The brain stem is the major route by which the forebrain sends information to and receives information from the spinal cord and peripheral nerves. The brain stem controls, among other things, respiration and heart rhythm.

All of the brain except the cerebrum and the cerebral cortex. The comprised of the hypothalamus , midbrain, and hindbrain.

The lower narrow part of the brain which connects the brain to the spinal cord.

The lowest portion of the brain, lying just above the spinal cord with nerve pathways that connect the spinal cord to other areas of the brain. Most of the activities carried on in the brain stem are unconscious functions such as breathing and heartbeat. The brain stem also contains the nerve endings of most of the cranial nerves, which send and receive sensory information from sense organs and structures.

The part of the brain that filters and guides signals coming from the spinal cord to other parts of the brain.

Region of the brain consisting of the medulla oblongata, the pons, and the midbrain responsible for many of the vegetative functions of the body.

The caudal region of the cerebrum, intricately linked to the spinal cord, serves as the hub for controlling respiration, cardiac activity, the oscillations of slumber and wakefulness, and the preservation of cognitive awareness.
