Capillary attraction

An increase or decrease in the height of a liquid as it contacts the retaining walls of a container.

Attraction of one object to another (such as a contact lens to the cornea) when their surfaces are separated by a capillary layer of fluid (also referred to as surface tension).

This phenomenon occurs when a fluid ascends within an extremely narrow tube because the adhesive attraction between the liquid and the tube’s inner walls surpasses the gravitational force acting on each unit of the liquid’s weight.
