  • Affiliative

    The desire to join or associate with another person or group.  

  • Afferent nerves

    Sensory nerves that carry impulses to the brain, efferent nerves. Any nerve that transmits impulses from receptors in the peripheral nervous system to the central nervous system; opposite of an efferent nerve.  

  • Afferent neuron

    A neuron that conducts impulses toward the central nervous system. A neuron that conducts sensory impulses toward the brain or spinal cord.  

  • Affective reaction

    Any emotional reaction. In psychiatry, it refers to extreme mood swings, either overly elated or deeply depressed, commonly seen in conditions like involutional melancholia and manic-depressive psychosis.

    Learning outcomes that stress feelings, attitudes, and values.

    Learning taking place within the affective domain.  

  • Affective-experiential learning

    Pertains to learning associated with learner’s beliefs, values, and emotions. Affected by learner involvement in the learning process and experiences is related to the affective domain focusing on emotional content in contrast to cognitive content.
