  • Community involvement liaison (CIL)

    A position created within the Division of Health Assessment and Consultation. The CIL serves as the agency point person for citizens to directly share their concerns for response and inclusion in the health assessment.  

  • Community health services public health services

    The seven major program emphases are as follows: (a) environmental controls; (b) prevention of disease, disability, and premature death; (c) provision of medical and dental care; (d) collection and analysis of vital statistics and records; (e) provision for public education; (f) health planning and program evaluation; and (g) conducting research into health matters.  

  • Community health promotion

    A combination of educational, social, and environmental supports for behavior conducive to health.  

  • Community health program

    Includes all functions directed toward improving the health of individuals within the community and the health of the community as a whole. Its components are fundamentally the same as those for the school health program, namely, health education, medical and health services, and a healthful environment in which to live.  

  • Community health organization

    The voluntary, governmental, and professional agencies, associations, and societies concerned with certain aspects of health.  

  • Community health educator

    Public health educator.  

  • Community health education

    All of the methods, techniques, and strategies used by the community health educator to improve the health knowledge, attitudes, and behavior of members of the defined community.  

  • Community health council

    A cooperative body representing all community health interested organizations and agencies. A statutory body of interested people from outside the medical professions charged with putting forward the patients’ point of view on local health issues.  

  • Community health agency

    A voluntary or governmental agency functioning in regard to some health issues or problems.  

  • Community health

    The collective health status of a community. The health of a local community, or provision of services for a local community.
