  • Diplococcus

    A bacterium which usually occurs in pairs as a result of incomplete cell division, e.g. a pneumococcus. Spherical or oval-shaped bacterium, occurring in pairs; plural is diplococci. Any of a group of nonmotile parasitic spherical bacteria that occur in pairs. The group includes the pneumococcus. Any of various spherical bacteria appearing in pairs.  

  • Diplacusis

    A disorder of the cochlea in which a person hears one sound as two sounds of different pitch. Perception of a single sound as double owing to a defect of the cochlea in the inner ear. A disturbed perception of pitch in which two tones are heard for every sound produced.
