  • Effects of loading on framework

Load distribution to supporting implants is affected by the relative stiffness of the prosthesis connecting the implants. With a rigid prosthesis, load is transferred relatively equally to all underlying implants. With a more resilient prosthesis, loading tends to be greatest at the implant closest to the point of load application.

  • Effects of loading on bone–implant contact

It is generally assumed that loading within a range of physiologic tolerance stimulates increased bone–implant contact, while loading in a magnitude greater than the range of physiologic tolerance may cause loss of bone–implant contact.

  • Eccentric j.r.

Any jaw relation other than centric relation.

  • Endogenous i

Due to activation of organisms previously present in a dormant focus.

  • Endosseous i

An implant positioned into the jaw’s alveolar and/or basal bone for the purpose of supporting a dental prosthesis.

  • Endodontic‐endosseous i

A pin‐ shaped device that is placed into the root canal space and extends past the tooth’s apex into the apical bone.

  • Endosseous root‐form implant

An implant placed into the alveolar process and/or basal bone that derives its support from a vertical length of bone, and supports a prosthesis or other device. Most commonly made of titanium, it can be cylindrical or tapered.

  • Envelope f

A flap retracted from a horizontal linear incision, as along the free gingival margin, with no vertical incision.

  • Exudate

    Exudate

A fluid produced as a result of injury to tissue and/or to a blood vessel. The secreted material can be made of serum, fibrin, white blood cells, and/or red blood cells that escape from blood vessels into a superficial lesion or area of inflammation. The content of the fluid is dependent upon the in situ…

  • Extrusion

The overeruption or movement of teeth outside the desired occlusal plane that may be accompanied by a similar movement of their supporting tissues. Squeezing out of material through the application of pressure, such as denture acrylic escaping from the invested flask as hydraulic pressure is applied to it. Act of pushing something out by force.…
