  • Iodotherapy

    The use of iodine medication, as in treating goiter due to iodine deficiency.  

  • Intracellular iodophilia

    Iodophilia in which color changes occur within the cells.  

  • Iodophilia

    A condition in which certain cells, especially polymorphonuclear leukocytes, when stained, show a pronounced affinity for iodine. These cells turn a brownish-red color. It is seen in pathologic conditions such as acute infections and anemia.  

  • Iodoform

    A yellow crystalline substance with a disagreeable odor, produced by the action of iodine on acetone in the presence of an alkali. Used topically, it has mild antibacterial action.

    To administer or impregnate with iodine, most commonly as a fortification of salt.  

  • Iodipamide meglumine injection

    A radiographic contrast medium combination of iodipamide and meglumine used to aid in x-ray examination of the gallbladder.

    A radiopaque agent formerly used in cholecystography.  

  • Inviscation

    The mixing of saliva with food during chewing.  

  • Inveterate

    Chronic; firmly seated, as a disease or a habit.  

  • Investigational

    Undergoing active study in a clinical trial or another form of systematic research. The term is used to describe drugs, devices, vaccines, or other treatments that are currently being studied, but not yet approved for general clinical use.
