Interstitial gestation
Tubal pregnancy in which the embryo is developed in a portion of the fallopian tube that traverses the wall of the uterus.

A gene that prevents the expression of another gene.

One of the many genes that control the ability of leukocytes to respond to specific antigens.

Intestinal gas
One of several gaseous compounds (e.g., carbon dioxide, oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, methane, methylmercaptan, and hydrogen sulfide) present in the intestinal tract. They are produced by digestive processes and intestinal bacteria.

The name formerly used for gases, such as helium, neon, and xenon, found in group 18 of the periodic table, and now known as “noble gases.”

A mixture of various combustible gases including hydrogen and carbon monoxide. Its poisonous effects are largely due to carbon monoxide.

A prevertebral sympathetic ganglion located in the inferior mesenteric plexus near the origin of the inferior mesenteric artery.

Immunoglobulin fragment
The portion of the IgG molecule that contains an antibody-combining site. Specific fragments are obtained by treating the molecule with the enzyme papain under specified conditions. The resultant fragments are designated “F(zz) Fragment,” where zz represents the specific fragment.
