  • Multicystic encephalomalacia

    A rare disorder of childhood in which multiple fluid-filled cavities replace brain tissue that has been deprived of oxygen or blood.  

  • Mottled enamel

    Discoloration and defective calcification of teeth caused by malfunctioning of ameloblasts. The defects range from minor surface irregularities to areas where no enamel forms. It may be caused by exposure to drugs (especially fluoride) during tooth formation.

    Several sets of terminals providing for the use of several electrodes.  

  • Magnetic electricity

    Electricity induced by a magnetic device.  

  • Malignant edema

    Rapid destruction of tissue by cutaneous or subcutaneous infections, such as anthrax or clostridial species. Swelling that occurs in infections involving bacteria that produce gas.  

  • Multidimensional visualization echocardiography

    An experimental echocardiographic technique using computer technology for three-dimensional visualization of cardiac structures. This becomes four dimensional when time is used to impart the cinematic perception of motion.  

  • Macular dystrophy

    Any inherited, progressive degeneration of the macula lutea retinae, marked by progressive central visual loss beginning in childhood or adolescence. Representative forms of macular dystrophy include Best’s disease and Stargardt disease.
