  • Micrometer

  • Microcytosis

    The presence of excess microcytes in the blood. Blood disorder characterized by abnormally small erythrocytes (red blood cells), often associated with iron-deficiency anemia. The presence of abnormally small red cells (microcytes) in the blood. Microcytosis is a feature of certain anemias (microcytic anemias), including iron-deficiency anemias, certain hemoglobinopathies, anemias associated with chronic infections, etc.

    Referring to microcytes. A descriptive term used to characterize a red blood cell that is smaller in size than the average.  

  • Microcyte

    An unusually small red blood cell. A small erythrocyte (red blood cell) less than 5 μm in diameter.  

  • Micrococcus

    A genus of bacterium, some species of which cause arthritis, endocarditis and meningitis. A genus of spherical Gram-positive bacteria occurring in colonies. They are saprophytes or parasites.
