  • Moonlighting

    The process of accepting additional employment outside of a regular teaching position. Also descriptive of a physician who works at a different hospital or clinic in his or her off hours from regular employment.

    A drug used for the treatment of hypertension. Side effects include an increase in body hair growth. The drug is used for the treatment of baldness.  

  • Monosaturated fatty acid

    A fatty acid with one double bond, as in oleic acid.  

  • Monotrichous

    A flagellar arrangement with a single flagellum arising at the end of the cell.  

  • Monotonic realtionship

    In research, any relationship in which steady increases or decreases of the dependent variable are associated with increases of the independent variable.  

  • Monotheism

    The acceptance of or belief in one god.  

  • Monosomic

    A diploid organism lacking one chromosome of its normal complement.
