A site of the original malignant growth from which cancer spreads.

Primary tuberculosis
A person’s first infection with tuberculosis. The initial tuberculosis infection typically leads to recovery with calcium deposits forming in the tissue. This appears as a “spot on the lung” in numerous adult chest x-rays, signifying that the individual was exposed to the bacterium (likely during childhood) and has effectively overcome the infection.
