  • Posterior chamber

    A part of the aqueous chamber which is behind the iris. In the eye, the space behind the iris and in front of the vitreous body. It is occupied by the lens, its zonules, and the aqueous humor.

    A view of the back of the body, or of the back of part of the body.

    An operation carried out from the back.

    Taking place after an epileptic fit. At the back.  

  • Postconcussional syndrome

    A set of symptoms which sometimes follow a head injury in which a person lost consciousness, including headache, loss of concentration, memory loss, depression and irritability. Headache, ringing in the head, dizziness, sleeplessness, irritability, heightened emotional response, and sensitivity to noise. These are symptoms that can occur after a concussion.

  • Postcentral gyrus

    A sensory area of the cerebral cortex which receives impulses from receptor cells and registers sensations such as pain, heat and touch. A gyrus of the parietal lobe directly posterior to the central fissure (of Rolando); it contains most of the general sensory area.  

  • Posseting

    (In babies) the act of bringing up small quantities of curdled milk into the mouth after feeding. A word used to describe the occurrence of infants expelling small amounts of milk after being fed. Posseting is a frequent and harmless phenomenon.
