  • Pulmonary transpiration

    The evaporation of water from the alveolar cells into the air in the lungs.  

  • Placental transmission

    The transmission of substances in the mother’s blood to the blood of the fetus by way of the placenta. The transfer of medications or substances from diseases across the mother’s placental blood flow into her unborn child.  

  • Pulse-echo transducer

    An ultrasonic transducer that sends out intermittent (pulsed) signals rather than continuous sound waves and receives the echo signal. Pulsed-wave Doppler ultrasound is used to measure blood flow and the depths from which echoes originate.
