  • Ribonucleoprotein

    The combination of protein with nucleic acid. A compound containing both protein and ribonucleic acid.  

  • Retrograde pyelogram

    A radiographic record of the kidneys and urinary tract, using an instrument inserted in the bladder to inject the contrast medium directly into the urinary tract. A diagnostic procedure called pyelography or renal x-ray that involves the injection of a contrast dye into the kidneys via the ureters.  

  • Reticulocyte count

    A test done to determine the number of reticulocytes in a specimen of whole blood, a measure of bone marrow activity; decreased in hemolytic (blood cell destroying) disease; elevated after hemorrhage, or while recovering from anemia.

  • Renal arteriography

    An X-ray study of the renal arteries and related blood vessels, done after injection of contrast medium.
