  • Sesamoid

    A small nodular bone embedded within a tendon or joint capsule. Any small bony nodule in a tendon, the largest being the kneecap. Resembling a grain of sesame in size or shape. Oval in shape, resembling a sesame seed, such as the small, short bones found in the hands and feet, nestled within tendons.
