  • Tone deafness

  • Tubo-ovarian cyst

    An ovarian cyst that rupture into the lumen of an adherent uterine tube.  

  • Tardive cyanosis

    Cyanosis caused by congenital heart disease and appearing only after cardiac failure.  

  • Time-temperature cooling curve

    The mathematical relation that plots the physical and chemical behaviors of dental (and other) materials as their temperature decreases over time.  

  • Thoracic curvature

    Posterior curvature of the thoracic vertebrae. The thoracic curvature is a primary spinal curve that develops during the embryonic period.  

  • True crisis

    Temperature drop accompanied by a fall in the pulse rate.  

  • Transient aplastic crisis

    A serious complication of infection with human parvovirus B-19 infection in patients with chronic hemolytic anemia such as sickle cell disease. This virus causes erythema infectiosum.  

  • Total lymphocyte count

    The number of lymphocytes in a specimen of blood. The count may be increased in clonal diseases such as chronic lymphocytic leukemia or decreased in diseases such as AIDS. In AIDS, decreases in the total lymphocyte count usually reflect a marked decline in the number of helper T4 cells.  

  • Trigeminal cough

    A reflex cough from irritation of the trigeminal terminations in respiratory upper passages.  

  • Tactile corpuscle

    A sensory receptor that responds to touch (e.g., Meissner’s corpuscle). Tactile corpuscles are located in the dermal papillae just beneath the epidermis and are most numerous on the fingertips, toes, soles, palms, lips, nipples, and tip of the tongue. Small epidermal structures with nerve endings that are sensitive to touch and pressure.
