  • Translator

    Structure in the more derived subfamilies of Apocynaceae, formed from secretions from the stylar head, which facilitates the transport of pollen (as tetrads or pollinia). In Asclepiadoideae and Secamonoideae, the two or more pollinia are physically linked by the translator; in Periplocoideae, pollen or pollinia are deposited onto the translator.
