Titanium mesh
A flexible titanium grid used in bone augmentation procedures to assist in maintaining a predetermined volume for bone regeneration during healing.
-
Titanium alloy
A biocompatible medical alloy used for the fabrication of dental implants and their components. Its physical properties are superior to most commercially pure titanium. The most common titanium alloy used for the fabrication of dental implants is Ti‐6Al‐4V, which contains approximately 90% titanium, 6% aluminum, and 4% vanadium.

Titanium (Ti)
An element that has qualities making it biocompatible, bioinert, and nontoxic. A light metallic element which does not corrode. A metallic element found in combination with minerals; atomic weight, 47.90; atomic number, 22; specific gravity, 4.54. In dentistry, it is used as an alloy chiefly for appliances and implants because of its biological acceptance and…

Titanium‐reinforced expanded polytetrafluoroethylene membrane
Expanded polytetrafluoroethylene (e‐PTFE) membrane reinforced by an attached titanium structure that allows increased rigidity when performing guided bone regeneration (GBR) procedures.
-
Tissue‐supported (syn)
Tissue‐borne. Supported by the soft tissue of the edentulous alveolar ridge.
-
Tissue registration
An obsolete term for the process of recording the shape of tissues with a material such that distortion does not occur.
-
Tissue recession
Drawing away of a tissue from its normal position (e.g., gingival recession).
-
Tissue punch technique
Circular incision made in the soft tissue over a submerged dental implant, manually or mechanically, of a diameter similar to the implant platform. This results in the exposure of the implant by the removal of a circular piece of soft tissue.
-
Tissue punch
A sharp circular instrument of different diameters used to create an incision in the soft tissue.
-
Tissue integration
Interdigitation of soft or hard tissues with an implant biomaterial.
