Cheilosis

A disorder of the lips and angles of the mouth characterized by fissures; often associated with a riboflavin deficiency.

Cracking of the edges of the lips, one of the signs of vitamin B2 (riboflavin) deficiency.

Sores of the lips.

Swelling and cracks on the lips and corners of the mouth caused by lack of vitamin B.

Cracks at the corners of the mouth. Associated with inadequate riboflavin intake; however, it can also occur in the presence of adequate vitamin intake.

Disorder of the lips and mouth marked by fissures and scales and caused by a deficiency of riboflavin; also called perliche.

Abnormal condition of the lips characterized by fissures and sores; frequently associated with vitamin B-complex deficiency.

Swollen cracked bright-red lips. This is a common symptom of many nutritional disorders, including aribo-flavinosis (vitamin B2 deficiency).

Inflammation of the lips. It is common at the angles of the lips (angular stomatitis), usually as a consequence of sagging facial muscles or ill-fitting dentures producing folds at the corners of the mouth; these retain food debris and allow proliferation of bacteria and candida. Atopic eczema is a common cause of cheilosis of the whole of the lips.

A morbid condition in which the lips become reddened and develop fissures at the angles. It is seen frequently in vitamin B complex deficiencies, especially riboflavin.

A medical condition characterized by the development of ulcers and cracks at the corners of the mouth, often caused by a deficiency of vitamin B. Including foods like ‘Bemax’ and ‘Marmite,’ which are high in vitamin B, in one’s daily diet can lead to a remedy. Alternatively, the patient may need to take vitamin B complex tablets as a treatment option.
