Cholecalciferol

A form of vitamin D found naturally in fish-liver oils and egg yolks.

A metabolite of cholesterol formed in the pathway for vitamin D activation. Cholecalciferol is hydroxylated in the kidney to 1,25 dihydroxy-cholecalciferol, the active vitamin D.
