Chordae tendineae

Tiny fibrous ligaments in the heart which attach the edges of some of the valves to the walls of the ventricles.

The chordae tendineae are fibrous strands that resemble strings, connecting the flaps of the mitral and tricuspid heart valves to the walls of the ventricles, the lower chambers of the heart. These structures, commonly referred to as the heartstrings, play a crucial role in preventing the valves from inverting or turning inside out.
