Ciliary muscle

A muscle which makes the lens of the eye change its shape to focus on objects at different distances.

The smooth muscle forming a part of the ciliary body of the eye. Contraction pulls the choroid forward, lessening tension on the fibers of the zonula (suspensory ligament) and allowing the lens, which is elastic, to become more spherical. Accommodation for near vision is accomplished by this process.

The diminutive muscles responsible for enabling the lens to alter its shape, allowing for the adjustment of focus on objects that are either nearby or far away.

The muscle responsible for altering the shape of the eye’s lens, allowing it to focus on objects at varying distances, whether near or far.
