Clearance

A physical state in which physical masses may pass each other without interference.


The gap between two bodies.

The process by which the active form of the drug is removed from the bloodstream by either metabolism or excretion.


Removal of something, as of wastes, from the blood by the kidney.


A quantitative measure of the rate at which waste products are removed from the blood by the kidneys. It is expressed in terms of the volume of blood that could be completely cleared of a particular substance in one minute.


In medicine, the rate of removal of a substance from the body, e.g. in feces, the urine, sweat, or exhaled gases.
